Critical Reflection

CCR     My short film (Are The Cameras Still Rolling?) was about a group of teenagers who are actors. After filming Ameila, one of the actors, poses the questio n: Do you ever wonder if were still being recorded? The group dismisses the idea but later finds out she was right. My film mildly addresses the issue of the privac y of celebrities and well-known people. People have always idolized celebrities and over time it has gotten worse with the advancement of technology, the internet , and social media. Videos and pictures are shared between people and what someone records can easily end up online for all to see. My short film represents “famous” individuals and allows audiences to understand that these people see things differently than them and it can be uncomfortable .   For my short film I created a websit e, post card, and Inst a gram to promote and give updates on the film . To fit the theme of being recorded and watched through a device, every ...

Re- Filming

Image
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! You may be wondering: I thought she finished. Well I did but the entire portion of the park scene was glitchy. I texted my friends in our group chat to see if they could re-film this one scene and we all agreed on today. Then things took a turn. First I wasn't able to find a ride to pick up the food that the kids would need to eat. I also didn't have any money because I spent most of it on the last scene. This didn't upset me too much because I could just grab some of the snacks I have at my house for them to eat. Later my mom came home but by the time she got here everyone started to show up. On our way to the park it started to rain. How about a string of bad luck. I started to get overwhelmed because this is due soon and I don't have the location from before. My sister said we could do it at the dinning room table in our house but it didn't give the same effect to me. In the end, my moms boss let us go back there a...

Finished!

Image
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog. In todays blog I will be telling you the things I did to finish editing my short film. Since I rough cut yesterday I decided to start from the beginning today and then work to the end.  The first thing I did was pick the filter for the first scene. The goal is for it to give Disney Channel sit-com. I wanted something warm but natural. I flipped through a few of the warm looking filters and picked the one I liked most. I then went to the adjust part of my app and fidgeted with the warmth and saturation sliders until the filter looked like how I pictured. The next thing I did was make the time I wanted to filter to stop. It is supposed to be when the director says cut. This is to signal the camera turning off. Timing this didn't take a while. I just ended up splitting and deleting again, flashback from yesterday. I've learned previously to add transitions early on so that it doesn't mess up the timing of the text and music. I ...

Editing Is A Lot

Image
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! In todays blog I am going to be telling you about my first day of editing. I decided to take it a little easy and just start by rough cutting. I thought that was going to be easy. In reality I think it took me about an hour and thirty minutes and I didn't take a break. There was a lot of angles and back and forth dialogue. I pulled back out my storyboard to see which lines go with what angle. I will say favoriting the good takes made this process a lot easier. Since I did that I didn't have to go through a bunch of the same videos over and over again because they were already selected. I don't think I ever hit the split and delete button so many times. I cut out all of the long pauses in the beginnings and ends of the clips to get a more accurate depiction of how long my short film was going to be. I originally thought the montage scene was going to be the hardest to cut up but it actually was the most fun. I picked out the ...

That's A Wrap

Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! In todays blog I will be telling you about the process of filming the last scene in my final task. Today I filmed the last scene of my short film. This one was short because it doesn't have any lines. This is also where I got my cameo. Last year when I did my music video and my final task, my partner and I were in the back of at least one scene. I didn't know if I was going to be in one of the scenes this year but yesterday I decided I was going to close off the film with me being the one at the desk. My mom is a perfectionist so she told me to clean off her desk before I filmed anything there. It took a lot of work because she has so many papers and items but I was finally able to get it clean enough for her liking. Before I could film I had to email the video of the kids looking around to my moms computer. Once that was on the computer I changed into all black and then I asked my sister if she could help me film. She said no, ...

Mall Day!

Image
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! In todays blog I will be telling you about what I filmed today at the mall. I got all of my work done yesterday so today after school asked my friends to meet me at the mall for 3:30PM. This morning before school I packed the all black outfit for my sister. She didn't want to be in my film this year but I convinced her to be the person who records. Surprisingly everyone got to the mall on time so we got started right away. The first thing I did was explain what this scene was in case they forgot. I have everyone a few minutes to look over the script. After a few tries I recorded the beginning dialogue. The next part was to film the montage part of us hanging out. This was easy because I am normally the one who records and documents the things we do. Basically my friends are used to having a camera on them.  Out of everything I filmed so far in this process, this scene has been my favorite. I love hanging out with my friends and...
