Editing Is A Lot
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! In todays blog I am going to be telling you about my first day of editing.
I decided to take it a little easy and just start by rough cutting. I thought that was going to be easy. In reality I think it took me about an hour and thirty minutes and I didn't take a break. There was a lot of angles and back and forth dialogue. I pulled back out my storyboard to see which lines go with what angle. I will say favoriting the good takes made this process a lot easier. Since I did that I didn't have to go through a bunch of the same videos over and over again because they were already selected. I don't think I ever hit the split and delete button so many times. I cut out all of the long pauses in the beginnings and ends of the clips to get a more accurate depiction of how long my short film was going to be. I originally thought the montage scene was going to be the hardest to cut up but it actually was the most fun. I picked out the parts where they were laughing or doing things I thought were funny. There was a good variety of locations and I think each person had a good moment of their own. Right now the film is sitting around four minutes but it might get longer after I make some of the parts in the montage slower and add the end credit scene.
I also started my website today. I am doing it though WIX because that is what my friend used and her website came out super cool. When starting up, WIX asks a few questions like a survey. One of the questions was to pick colors for a color pallet. I picked the colors blue, purple, black, white, green, red, and orange because they reminded me of TV static or the colors you see when you break an electronic device. I don't really know all of the steps to it so I am going to ask my friend to help me the next time I see her in school.
Thank you for reading and I hope you tune into the next blog where I plan to finish editing my short film.
