Finished!
Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog. In todays blog I will be telling you the things I did to finish editing my short film.
Since I rough cut yesterday I decided to start from the beginning today and then work to the end.
The first thing I did was pick the filter for the first scene. The goal is for it to give Disney Channel sit-com. I wanted something warm but natural. I flipped through a few of the warm looking filters and picked the one I liked most. I then went to the adjust part of my app and fidgeted with the warmth and saturation sliders until the filter looked like how I pictured.
The next thing I did was make the time I wanted to filter to stop. It is supposed to be when the director says cut. This is to signal the camera turning off. Timing this didn't take a while. I just ended up splitting and deleting again, flashback from yesterday.
I've learned previously to add transitions early on so that it doesn't mess up the timing of the text and music. I added transitions between each scene so things are more cohesive and flow better.
The next step was to add text. I know the order that the titles are supposed to go in from last year so I made sure I stayed in that order. There are a few more people in it than last year so I think the title sequence will be a bit longer but that's fine because this year is also a full film so I have more time to work with.
For music I went to YouTube and looked up copyright free music. I was looking for something upbeat for the montage and then ominous for when the kids are looking around confused. I am used to looking up copyright free music because of my YouTube channel. I caught myself dance around to the music while I was screen recording.
For the end credit scene I looked up how to do it on YouTube because I have never done a successful one before. The tutorials it showed were done on CapCut so to make my life easier I made it on that. I don't normally use CapCut because I find it complicated but this tutorial helped. After making it on CapCut I saved the video to my phone and added it to my film on InShot.
The last thing I did was attempt to put the audio on top of the videos. It was a very tedious task because the words would not match up with the way the actors mouths were moving. I put a pause on that for today to try again later but besides that my film is done.
It has been an experience and the process had its ups and downs but overall I enjoyed the process. Stay tuned for the final product, my website, and my post card.
