Production Blog: Rough Cut

Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog!

In my last couple blogs I talked about the process I went through while filming the music video. The project doesn’t just stop there. It has to be edited. In todays blog I will be telling you what I’ve done so far to start up the editing process.

Annabel and I decided to split up the clips. She took the first half and I would take the second half. We would edit it and she would send it to me. I would put the two together and that would be our completed music video.

So the first thing I did is what I call a rough cut. I went through each clip and cut out unnecessary things. Pauses that don’t add to the story. Some scenes were shot multiple time so I cut out the unusable ones. Only keeping the ones that were good takes. I really wanted to have bloopers because we laughed a lot during the filming process. Whenever there was a funny part I part or if we laughed I would move that to the end so all the bloopers would be in one place. That way we could watch it over.

The last thing I did was watch it over. Making sure anything that needed to be cut out was cut out. I wanted to take things step by step so that’s all I did. I’m super excited to see how the whole video is going to turn out. Stay tuned for the next blog!!
