First Day of Edting

Hello and welcome to or welcome back to my blog! I todays blog I will be telling you what the first day of editing was like. My group members and I did it together in class so all of our ideas can be incorporated and since I know a little more about editing I am able to share what I know.

Just like how the scenes were filmed separately they are going to be edited separately too. The app that I normally use to edit videos is called Inshot. I love it because it has so many features like songs, effects, and animations. The only thing I would say is all it lacks is fonts. I found a solution to that by downloading free fonts online.

The first scene was filmed in the bed room. This scene took the entire class to edit because there were many shots of the different people that needed to be smoothly added together. We didn't even get to finish because the bell rang. On the day of filming, my group members and I looked through the footage and made sure we liked everything but in class we had to sort through and find the really good ones of each shot that was going to be used. There was a lot of laughing during this part because I saw a few bloopers that brought me back to that day.

Once that was over it was time to put them all together. This part was complicated because although I am familiar with editing I have never done a short film where a bunch of clips needed to be edited within each other. My job was to make sure that all the clips were in the correct order in speaking terms. For example the scene starts with showing the characters Cam and Vanessa in the mirror doing their makeup and it shows a close up of the character Ava on her phone. The shots go back and forth so I had to make sure they didn't get mixed up and end up in the wrong order. Once I finished that it was time for the audio. We recorded the audio on a different phone so that the sound quality would be better. It was Annabel's job to mute the sound that was recorded from the phone that was filming and match the recording from the other phone to the lips in the video. Then when she finished that Kester's job was to watch everything and make sure that it flowed smoothly.

During that the bell rang and so we weren't able to research how to add text bubbles. We decided that we would do what we did for the other scenes first and then do that last. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for the next one!
